The Homeless Ministry
Each week at The Crossing Church over 100 meals are made to ensure no one goes hungry in St. Albans, WV. The Crossing Church members serve the community on Fridays and Sundays when Christ Kitchen, a local food bank, is closed. In addition, the church provides clothes, toiletries and showers. Multiple times throughout the week, members get together to make this possible. Food is delivered to those who are unable to make the trek to the church on Harrison Avenue. Pastor Stan Smith says it started when he saw something tragic: “There was a lady feeding an 18-month old baby out of a garbage bag that was in a dumpster, And it was pouring rain and the baby was picking up pasta off the plate as fast as she could and putting it in its mouth. And I said, ‘There can't be any more of this, this is my problem.’ That's what opened my eyes. And then coming down here, seeing these people
