Towards the end of 2009 the two Southern Baptist congregations of Saint Albans, West Virginia: Trinity Baptist and Riverwood Baptist Church, each agreed to attempt something highly uncommon. Both churches agreed to a trial period of union between the two bodies in the hope that together they could reach more effectively the same city they had tried for so many years to reach independently. In the Summer of 2010 each church voted and decided that this trial period should become a permanent joining of the two congregations and The Crossing was formed. The united group of believers now seeks to fulfill the Lord's purpose for them in the city He placed them within, and are daily becoming more unified in the work of reaching out to all who will hear the message of God's salvation in Jesus Christ.
